Community Meeting May 28th @ Six Nations Veterans' Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 PM

The Woodland Cultural Centre is asking community members of Six Nations of the Grand River for help with the up-coming museum exhibit Veterans, Warriors & Peacekeepers set to open in early August 2014.  The Centre is looking for photographs, stories, and items from the families of those men and women from Six Nations who served in the Great War (World War One).  Community members who wish to share their photographs and stories, or loan a veteran-related item are aksed to attend a community meeting at Six Nations Veterans' Hall on May 28th, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  Centre staff will be on hand to record stories, scan photographs, and handle short-term loan agreements.   Items of interest include: photographs of Six Nations, Wahta or Tyendinaga soldiers in uniform; soldier's diaries; medals; uniforms; letters to/from the soldier; band instruments; sheet music; trench art; photos of the war experience; 114th Battalion memorabilia; and related stories.

A short presentation of the photographs, artifacts, and research the Woodland Cultural Centre has collected so far will also be a part of this evening of sharing.  The Woodland Cultural Centre hopes to eventually have an image of every person who served in World War One from Six Nations of the Grand River, Wahta, and Tyendinaga.

Please plan to attend this community meeting and share your piece of Six Nations history!
