Join us October 23, 2014 at 7PM for the 5th instalment of Woodland's acclaimed Coffee House series. This evening will feature the innovative Indigenous music of Jennifer Kreisberg, Cris Derksen, and Leonard Sumner.

Coffee House is presented as a part of Woodland's Tehonkieron:nions (They are Entertaining) performing arts series through the generous support of Canadian Heritage.

Some information on the featured artists:
Leonard Sumner is an Anishinaabe MC from the Little Saskatchewan First Nation located in Interlake Region of Manitoba. He provides perspective from a voice often unheard and over-looked in the traditional music communities: truthful, insightful, and providing a new sound straight from the Rez.

Cris Derksen has performed from Norway to Australia, the Canadian Aboriginal cellist is known for building layers of sound into captivating performances. Her music braids the traditional and contemporary in multiple dimensions, weaving her traditional classical training and her aboriginal ancestry with new school electronics, creating genre defying music.

Jennifer Kreisberg is a Mother, Singer, Composer, Producer, Teacher, and Activist: Jennifer (Tuscarora, North Carolina) comes from four generations of Seven Singing Sisters through the maternal line, and has been singing since she was young. She is known for her fierce vocals and soaring range. Her lilting, breath-taking harmonies will delight your ears.

The event is free and coffee and tea will be provided.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
