Creating New Things at Woodland

Posted 13/08/23 in NEWS

Cheryl Red Eagle, Ivan Bomberry and I have been up to a lot this summer in the Education Department at Woodland.  With two summer students, Jade Johnson and Joe Maracle we have made changes to programs, created new ones and began to install a new display in the museum.   Some of the new workshops are clay bead making and beaded corn cobs.  The new display is of a pre-contact Haudenosaunee village.  All the people are made of corn husk, clothed in deer hide and the longhouses are built of wood and covered with bark.  We have had a great time creating this village and I hope you find your way to the Centre to see it!      Lorrie Gallant, Education Program Coordinator, Woodland Cultural Centre
