In loving Memory

The Woodland Cultural Centre Board and Staff would like to Honour the Passing and Acknowledge the Valuable Contributions of a Fellow Board Member and Colleague from the Wahta Mohawk Nation, the late Kǫnwathatietha Sylvia Emile Thompson, as she returned home to be with our Creator on January 13, 2014.

We pay tribute to her life experiences and expertise to serve on our Board of Governors.

It is particularly poignant, that she had the courage to serve on this Board as she was a residential school survivor of the Mohawk Institute, which is now the site of Woodland Cultural Centre.

Her quiet counsel always encouraged and championed our vision and efforts to maintain and stabilize our living Onkwehonweh Heritage.

She will be missed.
