Welcome to the Woodland Cultural Centre Website

The Woodland Cultural Centre is a First Nations educational and cultural center. It was established in 1972 to protect, promote, interpret, and present the history, language, intellect and cultural heritage of the Anishinaabe and Onkwehon:we. This mandate is from our member Nations; Wahta Mohawks, Six Nations of the Grand River and the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.

The Woodland Cultural Centre will demonstrate the highest standards of excellence in the practice, presentation, interpretation and collection of resources in Education; Museology; Arts; Language and Cultural Heritage in order to foster an appreciation of the intellect and promote an accurate image of First Nations in Canada and abroad.

Over thirty-five thousand artifacts are accessioned in the collections of the Museum... The Museum holdings include documents, contemporary paintings, fine crafts... The archeological and ethnographic collections make up the permanent collection and are presented in a dramatic storyline beginning with our Iroquoian and... _Museum Home

The Language program acts as an advisory role as well as a place for research on traditional knowledge and wisdom research... As well as the program delivery is undertaken by maintaining the historical collection which means duplicating and cataloguing... The latest project in partnership with University of Newfoundland is COOL... _Language Home

The Woodland Cultural Centre Library contributes to the promotion of the history, heritage, and culture of the First Nation people, particularly to the Eastern Woodland area... Although a few volumes are first editons, most books in this collection are out-of-print or in fragile format requiring special storage conditions.
