THE GREAT DONUT/COOKIE CHALLENGE

CALLING ALL SUPPORT COMMUNITY BAKERS!!!

The Museum program is excited to annouce the first ever Native/"Indian" cookie or donut baking challenge to be hosted at the Woodland Cultural Centre Saturday, October 19th, 2013 at 7pm.  The Woodland Cultural Centre usually hosts an annual Corn Soup Cook Off, however, with the shortage of lyed white corn in the Six Nations area this year we used some imagination and came up with the Donut/Cookie Challenge.  So, to all the chefs, cooks, bakers, and pastry-makers out there; open up those recipe boxes or pull out the treasured family secret recipe, and prepare to wow the crowd at this first time event.

Prize money ($200.00) will be awarded in three different categories - Healthiest Option; Best Tasting; and Most Unusual Ingredients (and yet still tasty).  So it is possible for one entry to win all 3 categories and all the prize money.

The Great Donut/Cookie Challenge is an event for the whole family!

 Information for the Entrants:

To enter the challenge, please call or email the Woodland Cultural Centre by October 18th, 2013 at 3pm.  The information needed to register includes: your name, the item you are entering ("Indian" cookies or donuts), telephone number, and email address (if available).

For the challenge, each entrant will be required to bring 60 (5 dozen) mini-cookies or donuts to the Centre by 6pm on October 19th.  Please do not enter full size items.  The 60 cookies or donuts should be bagged or boxed with your name on each container.

Information for Visitors (Judges):

The Challenge begins at 7pm on October 19th.  Each visitor will act as a judge for the challenge.  The cost of admission for the event is $5.00 per person.  This cost will purchase you a WCC mug - for the coffee, tea, and cider you will need to cleanse your palate between tastings; a judging form; and the opportunity to taste all the delicious and innovative donuts and cookies.  The visitors' votes will determine the winners in the 3 different categories.
